ABOUT
Matt and Jim bring an original approach to any genre, be it drama, documentary or children's TV, with a Best Composer win at RTS West of England Awards for 3-part documentary series ‘Rendezvous With The Future’ for BBC Science and Bilibili and a best soundtrack nomination at International Sound and Music Festival for documentary film ‘Above The Troubled Water’. They score Kids’ TV series including BAFTA nominated series 'Ready, Eddie, Go!' for Sky Kids and 'Lloyd of the Flies' for Aardman. They regularly score award-winning drama and comedy shorts, and recently scored their first drama feature. They are both based in Bristol.
Matt Loveridge is a classically trained composer and experienced TV professional who started out as a drama boom operator (Downton Abbey, Belle, I Give It A Year) before 10 years as a sound designer and dubbing mixer for TV documentary and animation working primarily with Evolutions, The Farm and Aardman. Scoring solo he has 2 further RTS West of England Best Composer nominations, with series for Channel 4, Channel 5, CBBC and Netflix, and title music for game shows and panel shows. Matt is a committee member for RTS West Of England and has hosted panels for RTS and BBC Academy, also lecturing at Aardman Academy and dBs Music Institute.
Jim Cornick is an electronic artist, composer and music therapist who has scored documentaries for the BBC, short films, music for installations and music for commercials & branding. He has composed over 10 commercial albums, as well as many other releases, and has produced and remixed for many artists. Jim has worked as a music therapist for over 10 years, specialising in working with children and young people presenting with a wide range of mental, emotional and physical difficulties and disabilities.
Matt and Jim have worked together since 2020 and have found the creative collaboration (as well as the increased ability to manage workloads and deadlines) to be hugely positive and beneficial. Working across multiple genres is a feature of Matt and Jim’s music. This only benefits their work, providing a distinctive perspective on each project and interesting opportunities for crossover. Every project they work on is unique, with original sounds and ensembles built from scratch where possible to give the project its own aesthetic and sound world. Being creatively involved early on is also really important - experience has shown that coming on board a project in pre-production can significantly help to create a unifying relationship between picture and sound and unlock new creative possibilities.
